M1-Color Management Transformed

24/7 Online Training

M1-Color Management Transformed:
Proofing & Press Matching for Brightened Stocks

Recorded Live September 4 & 5, 2014

The new M1 measurement standards defined by ISO and CGATS open the door to a new way of measuring. Previously, color management did not work well with optically brightened substrates. M1 changes all that and offers the promise of proofing and press matching with brightened stocks.

This 2-part in-depth online training event will explain how M1 is poised to change everything we do in color management and how print service providers will benefit from this new set of standards.

Discover M1: What it is and Why it Matters

In 2013 and 2014, ISO and CGATS introduced a new set of standards and profiles based on M1. The critical ISO 12647-2 standard was updated using M1 measurements, and the new G7 based CGATS 21 and ISO 15339 are all based on M1 measurement. These new standards give us more realistic paper colors and aims, as well as the ability to customize based on actual substrate colors.

In this 90-minute session, you'll learn…

  • What are the M standards
  • What devices and software support M1
  • The problem of M0 measurements and standards
  • Why M1 matters
  • New M1 based profiles and print standards
  • What are ISO 12647-2 and CGATS 21/ISO 15339
  • The family of G7 based datasets
  • How to calculate for paper difference
  • Reference print conditions and how to install in Adobe CC

The M1 Workflow: How it All Works

New measurement methods give us the promise of color managing optically brightened substrates and proofing stocks. The path to using this involves new software, measuring instruments, and procedures to assure good results. Learn how to put the pieces together with this exciting new workflow.

In this 90-minute session, you'll learn…

  • Components of an M1 workflow
  • Challenges of M1 measurementD
  • Results and testing of M1 workflows
  • Checklist for M1 calibration
  • Plus, you’ll have time to get YOUR questions answered!
