Why G7? The Buyer's
Perspective
G7 was not developed as a specification for
printers. Rather it's development was spurred
by requirements of brand owners/ print buyers and
agencies. In this session learn why print
buyers are making G7 a requirement for all their
creatives, premedia and print providers. This
panel is designed to give printers a better
understanding about why buyers now require G7.

G7 Inks —
A Critical Ingredient
Inks are a critical ingredient for G7-based printing.
This panel will investigate G7 ink requirements.
You will learn about the ISO inks, ink
"certification" and what characteristics printers
should look for on any substrate. The panel

The Role of Press Controls
Maintaining G7 neutral print density curves on press
is not small task. Learn about the emerging
requirement for numerically-based press controls that
more accurately relates to visual appearance.
Gray patches at 25/50/75 is a new requirement that
is measured by some press control systems and not by
others. This panel will consist of a publisher,
a printer and
press control manufacturers who are facing this
challenge on a daily basis.

G7: After the Honeymoon
While many have calibrated their proofers
and presses to G7, some are highly successful using
G7 on a daily basis and others are not. This
session will begin with the first presentation of
IDEAlliance Real-world G7 Tolerance 2008 Report.
Tales from the front will highlight keys to success
including how G7 should be used as a feedback loop
between prepress and the press room and the
importance of management support.
