The Karen Chiovaro Education Award
In 2010 the Digital Enterprise Education & Research (DEER)/The Foundation for IDEAlliance created the Karen Chiovaro Education Award. Karen Chiovaro, an executive at Meredith Corporation,died in 2009 after 27 years in the industry. She embraced new challenges and technologies with enthusiasm and had a great ability to recognize talent and motivate. The DEER Foundation organized the Chiovaro Education Award as a scholarship program to support media professionals who wish to advance their education. Karen stressed the importance of continuous learning and the Chiovaro Education Award continues her legacy.

She is the “go to” person at Hearst for their editors, publishers, designers, and sales and marketing staffs anytime there is talk of doing something “different,” something “ground breaking,” something “innovative” in the pages of Hearst’s magazines.
Kristin Reese Associate PreMedia Manager, Meredith Corporation
Kistin was promoted to Associate PreMedia Manager after working two years as a Desktop Operator. She is a dedicated, self-motivated technical support representative for over 1200 designers, editor and sales staff. She developed new record management policies and procedures to reduce legal risk, thus resulting in cost savings.
