The Luminaire Awards is the “grassroots” Academy Awards for media production. Since its founding in 1988 by the Foundation for P3, the media production community gathers in a gala event to honor THE BEST in it’s industry. The Luminaire Award recognizes media professionals who are innovators in their field, committed to educating themselves and their peers, and advancing the industry as a whole. Award recipients receive an award in the shape of a flame, specially commissioned and handcrafted, to represent the flame of commitment and inspiration of each individual. In its history, 116 professionals have been recognized. In 2010, the Foundation for P3 merged with the Digital Enterprise Education & Research Foundation (DEER), the Foundation for IDEAlliance.
