Active Data Exchange and 3Path
Demonstrate Seamless Content Delivery To Websites
and Desktops at Seybold in San Francisco
Use of ICE, PRISM, and
XML demonstrate efficiencies of emerging standards
San Francisco, September 25, 2001 - Active
Data Exchange and 3Path interoperability and content
delivery demonstration takes advantage of three
emerging standards: PRISM (Publishing Requirements
for Industry Standard Metadata), ICE (Information
and Content Exchange), and XML (Extensible Markup
Language).
Efficient search using PRISM metadata standards,
content packaging, subscriber and delivery management
using Active Data Syndicator, and individual desktop
management using 3Paths Priority Channel
Services gives information providers the ability
to instantaneously deliver content direct to both
the business-to-business and consumer markets.
Active Data Exchange and 3Path, Inc. announce
seamless interoperability to aggregate, package
and deliver digital assets across disparate networks,
Web servers and desktops using three emerging
standards: PRISM (Publishing Requirements for
Industry Standard Metadata), ICE (Information
and Content Exchange), and XML (Extensible Markup
Language) at the Seybold Conference in San Francisco.
Efficient search using PRISM metadata standards,
content packaging, subscriber and delivery management

Services gives information providers the ability
to instantaneously deliver content direct to both
the business-to-business and consumer markets.
Active Data Syndicator uses proprietary technology
known as Active Data Protocol to allow business-to-business
content delivery without replication. 3Path uses
desktop-to-desktop file transfer technology to
create direct branded communication channels to
individual file directories.
3Paths CTO, Laird Popkin, formerly CTO
of Sothebys and News Corporations
News America Digital Publishing, said 3Path
was able to easily extend Active Data Exchanges
syndication solution to provide branded, managed
delivery to the individual desktop. Our use of
ICE and XML makes the content handoff from Active
Data Syndicator painless. Both firms are
showcasing interoperability at the IDEAlliance
booth at the Seybold Conference in San Francisco
this week. IDEAlliance is the leading publishing
association supporting emerging standards development
such as PRISM and ICE. The beauty of the
use of standards is rapid time to implementation.
The 3Path and Active Data Exchange interoperability
integration was accomplished in under three FTE
hours, stated Active Data Exchange EVP and
CTO, Dr. Richard Martin. Both Popkin and Martin
participate in various industry standards committees
such as ICE, PRISM, and the W3C XML Protocol working
group.
About 3Path, Inc.
3Path, Inc. was founded in 1999 by the BRM Group.
The founders envisioned a priority, permission-based,
straightforward, and fully outsourced desktop-to-desktop
file transfer delivery service for all high-value
priority digital content. This service, aimed
primarily at the business-to-business market,
enables time-sensitive exchange of information
resulting in cycle time reduction. Global trends,
such as larger digital content (presentations,
graphics, video, photography & music), uneven
bandwidth availability, security needs, and pervasive
communications, indicate a large market opportunity
for the 3Path service.
