Best
Practices for SWOP Proofing
SWOP (Specifications for Web Offset
Publication) has become a major factor in the success of
the Publication Printing Industry in the United States.
Over the past few years, SWOP has concentrated on
raising the bar for proofing by certifying both hard
copy and monitor proofing systems "to the numbers".
In this Webinar you will learn why SWOP proofing is
required by many publishers, what a "SWOP" proof is, and
the best practices for producing SWOP proofs.

XML-in-Practice
See how XML is used on some of the most popular Web sites today. A major advantage of XML is the capability to share information. When the XML is shared via the Internet, a web developer can retrieve data from remote locations and incorporate it into their web pages. We will explore two XML technologies that assist in sharing information on the web, RSS Feeds and XML Web Services. Many information sources (blogs, weather services, news, journal articles, magazine articles) are provided by private and public entities (Google, Amazon, and US Federal Government) to provide the most up-to-date and dynamic information for your Web site. We dig deep into these Web sites and see how the XML works and how the technology is applicable to media today.

Monitor Proofing "To the Numbers"
In this webinar, Bill Pope from RIT will
describe the details of the new SWOP Certification
Program for Virtual Proofing Systems. Issues
around how evaluating monitor proofing systems
differs from evaluating hard copy proofing systems
will be highlighted. How we selected the
deltaE scale to evaluate numeric tolerances will be
discussed. Other topics include evaluation of
the monitor itself, steps to evaluate monitor
proofing systems and the numeric tolerances
demanded.

Using G7 for Web, Flexo and Gravure
G7 is a new IDEAlliance specification that outlines methods to calibrate proofing systems and presses based on principles of digital imaging, spectrophotometry, and computer-to-plate (CtP) technologies.
Because G7 focuses on colorimetric data for gray
balance in the mid-tones,
image contrast and image weight in a precise and 100%
colorimetric manner it enables widely different printing
processes or substrates to share not only common gray
balance, but also common tonal contrast and image
weight, regardless of paper type, ink quantity,
screening type or imaging technology. Learn more
about applying G7 to web, flexo and gravure prinnting in
this Webinar.
