X-Hive
Corporation Announces Launch of X-Hive/DB
2.0
Sets
the Pace for Native XML Databases
ROTTERDAM,
THE NETHERLANDS -December 17, 2001 -
X-Hive Corporation, a leading innovator
in XML database technology, announced
today the release of X-Hive/DB 2.0,
the newest version of its native XML
database. Additions to X-Hive/DB 2.0
include features such as document versioning,
binary object support, and full text
searching, which will provide XML and
Java developers with more complete functionality
when working with native XML databases.
"The
latest additions to 2.0 round out X-Hive/DB
and help us to fulfill our goal of offering
the most complete native XML database."
explains X-Hive CEO/CTO and co-founder,
Jeroen van Rotterdam.
According
to X-Hive, the introduction of version
management is particularly significant
to increasing the growth of native XML
database technology. "In applications,
such as publishing, the ability to maintain
multiple versions of the same document
is critical to the business process.",
explains Van Rotterdam. "By addressing
this issue, X-Hive/DB 2.0 breaks down
the barrier for those industries who
originally perceived this lack of functionality
as an obstacle to moving to a native
XML database."
New
Features Summary
Versioning:
offers the ability to store multiple
versions of the same document without
sacrificing the database's speed and
performance. This is especially significant
for applications such as publishing,
legal, etc. where different versions
and drafts need to be maintained and
recalled.
Binary
Objects (BLOB) support: allows binary
large objects (such as movie files,
images, MS Office files, etc.) to be
stored in X-Hive/DB. This means that
all resources/files needed for a project
(i.e. website, book) can be stored in
one place and share the same security
and transaction control.
Full-text
Searching: is accomplished via integration
with Lucene, the open source full text
index engine from Apache.
New
Indexing Methods: have been added to
boost the performance of X-Hive/DB applications.
X-Hive/DB 2.0. Prior support for node
indexes (Context Conditioned Indexing(tm))
and element name indexes has been expanded
to include: library indexes, id attribute
indexes and full-text indexes thru Lucene.
With
X-Hive's existing support of W3C standards
such as XLink, XPointer, XPath, and
a recent release of its XQuery implementation
demo, the launch of X-Hive/DB 2.0 widens
the gap in the XML database market.
"By
concentrating our efforts exclusively
on the XML database, we can bring to
market the more specialized features
that XML and Java professionals look
for when evaluating native XML databases.",
states Van Rotterdam.
X-Hive/DB
2.0 is now available. Evaluation software
can be downloaded from the company's
website at www.x-hive.com.
