The industry is starting to look at integration not just as a technology problem but a business problem. Integration of businesses is in part driven by integrating technologies. Business Process Management and Business Integration are now driving the emergence of new standards (BPEL4WS, BPML) new methodologies (model driven business integration) and technologies. This session will highlight work underway at OMG and OASIS on how the world of modeling (UML, Business Process Definition Metamodel) and BPEL4WS (Business Process Execution Language for Web Services are being integrated. Examples of how to use common design patterns and UML with Web Services will be illustrated using the IBM Emerging Technologies Tool Kit which provides an early implementation of mapping UML to BPEL4WS.
