3B2-Setting the

Abstract

Advent's, 3B2 version 8 publishing system has taken the support and application of XML and `X' standards to a new level. Uniquely incorporating XML, XPath, XSL, XSLT, SVG, XSL-FO, SGML, MathML, UNICODE and CALS in a single package, Advent has been able to unlock the latent potential of the these`X' standards in real production environments.

Until the new release of 3B2, the adoption of these standards by developers has been somewhat `fragmented' and generally limited to specific functionality. Though bringing some obvious advantages this policy has failed to deliver more than a fraction of the real business benefits to be unlocked.

By combining all these in a single package Advent have unlocked this power resulting in significant benefits in a number of areas

The cost per page is reduced dramatically.

The whole workflow process is simplified.

Pre and post-processing is eliminated.

The maintainance and revision process is simplified.

The presentation will discuss and explore these benefits and demonstrate and show the limitations of the fragmented approach.
