Francois Ochsenbein has been an astronomer at the Centre de Données astronomiques de Strasbourg (CDS) since its creation in 1972. He has actively participated in CDS developments and is now in charge of the VizieR database which can access several thousand astronomical catalogues and astronomically interesting data tables through a unified interface. VizieR is one of the main sources of catalogue data and metadata within the scope of the Virtual Observatory.
