Abstract

The development of XML has always been strongly linked to standardisation. In this session, representatives from major standards groups including W3C, OASIS, DISA, ISO and IDEAlliance will explain their role in the XML world, and field questions on issues related to XML's development such as patents, commercial interests, standardisation processes, and complexity.

Edd Dumbill is chair of the XML Europe 2003 conference. He is a long-time commentator on XML, managing editor of XML.com and publisher and editor of XMLhack.com. Edd also develops free software and is a developer on the Debian GNU/Linux project.
