Abstract
In early 2002 Advent 3B2 Inc. and Progressive Information Technologies had an established relationship through Advent's 3B2 composition software. PIT used the software to address the composition and printing issues associated with the chemical index of a large pharmaceutical company.
During the first half of 2002, two things drastically changed that business relationship. First, Advent developed an internal requirement for a Content Management System (CMS) to handle the growing complexity and multilingual needs of its software documentation. During Advent's CMS selection process, PIT's Vasont solution soon emerged as a frontrunner, meeting all of Advent's functional and business process requirements.
Secondly, PIT moved to enhance its Application Service Provider (ASP) service for its CMS and pre-press customers to provide Web-based, on-demand pagination and proofing services. As dialog between the two companies developed, it became clear that the Advent Automated Composition Service (ACS) could add value to PIT's ASP business model.
This presentation will provide overviews of the Vasont and ACS products with emphasis on the areas of functionality that provided the most business benefit for each partner. It will also discuss the implementations and how the two product sets work together to address different requirements within each company.
The presentation will conclude with a discussion on how this unprecedented "technology swap" has impacted and changed the relationship between the two companies and how it will benefit their existing and prospective customers.
