Syndicating Web Services with ICE

Abstract

Subscription-based delivery of Web Services is becoming increasingly important business model for delivering Web Services. Subscription model seems to fit very well with the business requirements for exchanging or selling services over the Internet. As designed, Web Services standards do not directly address subscription models. On the other hand, ICE 2.0 addresses all the needs for the syndication of Web Services while following all the business requirements of logging, tracking, billing, access management and expiration of offers if subscription is not renewed. ICE 2.0 can help add subscription features to Web Services in a transparent fashion without having to change the software interaction. In this presentation, a number of business needs for adding subscription support to Web services will be discussed.

We will also discuss how ICE 2.0 provides a suitable model for transparent business process to govern the application interaction. We will also discuss how syndication provides a mechanism for charging for Web services in an environment where transaction takes place between corporations. A number of extended application scenarios will also be discussed in this presentation to highlight how syndication and ICE can bring web services to the service marketplace for Internet and Intranet usage.
