Abstract
In survey after survey the key objection to the widespread adoption of Web services is concerns about security. Are these concerns rational? What can be done to resolve them? How will WS-S play a part?
In this comprehensive technical review of the issues - and solutions - we'll examine the existing security options for Web services, and explain why most implementationS are inadequate. Next, we'll review advanced security options, and how they can be deployed with Web services. How can end-to-end security be enforced? How can authentication and authorization be managed? What cryptographic options are available? How can Web services integrate within existing security systems? Is there a mechanism for securing domains of Web services? Is UDDI a secure mechanism for registering Web services? These and other questions will be addressed. The goal of the presentation is to enlighten attendees about the issues, and suggest tangible solutions that are implementable today.
