Craig Hayman is Vice President, Strategy, IBM Software Group with responsibility for software strategy across the IBM Software
Group which includes the WebSphere, Lotus, Tivoli and DB2 product lines. Upon joining IBM in 1997, he worked to create the
XML standard needed to represent objects in transactional systems. In 1999 he co-led the revamp of the IBM development tools
product line. The resulting WebSphere Studio line of products was launched in 2001 together with the underlying open source
development environment eclipse.org. Prior to his current position, he led the product development and support of the WebSphere
Application Server which was the first application server to combine J2EE and Web Services. Before joining IBM, Craig
was one of the founders and development executive of Seer Technologies, an enterprise tools vendor. Publicly listed in 1995,
the company was subsequently purchased. He has also held development roles at British Telecom and Credit Suisse First Boston.
He has a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Electronics from the University of London.
