ebXML Message Service

ABSTRACT

This session will start by examining the general requirements for an XML messaging layer within a typical B2B scenerio. It will then commence an analysis of the ebXML Message Sevice. We will explore the details of the MIME multipart/related packaging solution, discuss the ebXML SOAP Extensions and outline the business quality messaging characteristics of the ebXML Message Service: reliable delivery and security. The session concludes by examining how this functionality is being exploited by architects currently designing industry-specific vertical standards. Intended Audience: Software developers, Web Service Architects and others interested in the XML "plumbing" required for industrial strength B2B operation.

Christopher is a senior staff engineer in Sun's XML Technology Center. He was vice-chair of the ebXML Transport Routing and Packaging project team (TR&P). He is also a participant in the W3C XML Protocol Working Group and most recently has joined the OASIS Message Service Technical Committee. Christopher has been at Sun for over eleven years and has over twenty years experience in distributed IT systems architecture, design and implementation.
