Farrukh Najmi is a Staff Engineer in the J2EE team at Sun. His focus in recent yearshas been messaging technologies and eBusiness. He is an active contributor to theebXML eBusiness standards activity, where he is the primary author of the ebXMLRegistry specifications. Currently he is the specification lead for Java API for XMLRegistries (JAXR). Previously, he helped develop Sun's Java Messaging ServiceReference Implementation.Prior to joining Sun, Farrukh was at Hewlett Packard where he led the development ofa large scale enterprise Java application in the field of Medical InformationSystems. He started his career at HP Labs where he worked on the first single chipHPPA RISC processor from HP.

This talk will begin with a brief overview of XML Registries and their role in enabling web services. This will be followed by an in depth review of the ebXML Registry V2.0 specifications and architecture. Emphasis will be placed on new functionality in V2.0.
A concrete implementation of the ebXML Registry will be used as an example throughout the session to highlight enabling XML technologies such as XML Data binding, XML based RPC, and XML based Messaging. The implementation will be described in conjunction with a demonstration of the ebXML registry implementation. The talk will conclude will a reminder of the key features of the ebXML registry and the role played by XML in the specification and implementations.
