Abstract

Often, people want to present information with rich graphics. In today's environment, the target media include desktop PC browsers, mobile device browsers and paper, among others. Further complicating today's environment is the fact that the information itself changes, thereby making it necessary to delay the creation of the rich graphics presentation until the moment when the information is needed. The thrust of the paper (and presentation) will be describing how to design SVG templates that can be filled in using server-side tools to insert dynamic data into the templates and how the filled in templates then can be transcoded into multiple different formats (SVG full, SVG Mobile, images, PDF, etc.) depending on the capabilities of the client machine. The paper will identify some of the products from various vendors which can be used to author SVG templates, perform server-side transcoding of SVG, and view SVG (desktop and mobile). The presentation will demonstrate some of these products.
