Larry Cable is Chief Architect for Web, Application and Integration Platform Products at iPlanet. Larry has worked for Sun Microsystems since 1989 in a variety of positions including; the Window Systems Group, working on X11, OpenLook and CDE, the Object Products group on SunSoft working on CORBA and OpenStep, and prior to joining iPlanet he spent 3 years at Java Software where he contributed to a variety of projects and specifications including JavaBeans, Swing, AWT, Infobus, JSP, and to J2EE as a member of the core architecture team. He continues to represent iPlanet technically on a number of Java Community Process Expert Groups developing specifications for the J2EE platform.
Prior to joining Sun, he worked in the U.K for a variety of companies including Digital Equipment Corp, Spider Systems, Office Workstation Ltd, Burrourghs, The Turing Institute, and ICL. During his career he has made technical contributions to many indusrty standards organisations such as X/Open, IEEE, The X Consortium, OMG and others. Larry was educated in Scotland in Edinburgh and St Andrews.
This talk will wrap up the conference. Larry will touch on some of the interesting topics from the conference, as well as giving Sun's vision of how XML and Java will evolve to enable the creation of a new generation of web service-enabled application software.
