Typical delivery of documents across the web is a one-way process from publisher to reader. However in many circumstances there are requirements for the the readers to submit comments back to source of the document (journal article peer review, field corrections to technical manuals and so on). In addition, these comments often have parameters regarding private, public or specific group access. While there are technologies available for collecting annotations via the web, this presentation will look at the strengths and weaknesses of the available options and how standards based tools can be implemented to address this problem.
This presentation will look at the use of Topic Maps and XSLT in the collection, management and dynamic delivery of annotations in collaborative document publishing. Specifically this session will examine the complexities of dealing with individual and group permissions and views.
This presenter's paper was not received in time to be included in the proceedings.
