Abstract

Ontopia unveils the Vizigator as part of the Ontopia Knowledge Suite Release 2.1 at XML 2004.

The Vizigator uses graphical browsing of topic maps to provide:

* a summary of the information structure that is intuitive and instant

* 'look ahead' in the data structure traversal

* the ability to view and understand relationships and patterns that exist in the data structure as a whole

* views at different levels of granularity

* more intuitive access to an unknown data model

* the ability to get hold of and interact directly with a data model

The Vizigator includes components for customizing the graphical viewing environment and including the Vizigator in browsing applications.

The presentation will also include a technology sneak preview of "talking" topic map browsers. Now it's possible to not only merge full topic maps, but to exploit the use of topic map fragments to generate spontaneous knowledge interchange through automated portal connectivity. The result - seamless knowledge.

Other new features that will appeal to application developers, including improved support for RDF/topic map integration, will also be introduced.

Altogether, version 2.1 of the OKS represents a major step forward for users wishing to apply the power of topic maps to solve their information and knowledge management problems - and those who want to get their eyes on Topic Maps.
