RDF and XML: Deriving Value at the Intersection of Semantics and Content Semantic web technologies, such as RDF, are finally starting to provide real value in real-world applications. However, the greatest asset is not in a single model, but in the juncture of several technologies. In this webinar recording we describe the tremendous potential of storing, managing, and searching RDF tuples and XML documents together in a single repository using a single query language and a single indexing system. Example use cases and illustrative benchmarks will be provided. Originally recording with a live audience on November 11, 2010 |

XML Case Study: U.S. News Media Implements PRISM
As a multi-platform publisher, U.S. News & World Report recognizes that metadata is the key to organizing and managing an increasingly diverse universe of content. In 2005 U.S. News migrated to a new digital asset management system; in conjunction with that migration a business case was made to add PRISM XML as an export format to content aggregators. As U.S. News became more familiar with the specification, we discovered that using PRISM to encode metadata enhanced our ability to deliver content quickly, and organize it more effectively for internal use. This presentation illustrates the business case for using PRISM and shows how we made the transition to using the specification for both our DAM and CMS. We’ll also discuss our plans to implement PRISM 2.0 in 2009.

Introduction to XMP
XMP is the Extensible Metadata Platform. Initiated by Adobe Systems, XMP provides a standard XML envelope, defines an easy-to-implement RDF subset, and specifies the mechanism for embedding metadata in each media asset type. With XMP each asset is self defining as it moves through the workflow or is archived. Learn more about XMP in this Webinar presented by the XMP-Open organization.
