illustrated how the various E-initiatives
will work by following the life of a
photograph through print production
and looking at where it "picked up XML
tags or "metadata" and what each XML
pickup provided:
- At
the photographer, PRISM tagging is
used to add the name of the copyright
owner, the date, and licensing information.
- At
the agency, SPACE/XML is used for
ad placement, frequency, and mechanical
specifications.
- The
agency prepress will use JDF for ad
position, production information,
and things like screen angles.
- The
magazine ad production area will then
use PRISM again to mark the placement
of an ad in the magazine.
- In
magazine production, JDF is used for
assembly with editiorial content.
- The
magazine's web production area may
use PRISM to control web layout and
content usage or syndication.
- The
magazine may then transmit the whole
layout and instructions for the magazine's
production to the printer with PROSE
XML.
