Crispin Porter + Bogusky
Keynote: Winning Print
Campaigns
|
Jim Poh is the Director of Creative Content Distribution
at Crispin Porter + Bogusky, which is kind of like being
the Media Director, but the focus of the job is on creative
ideas rather than on traditional media formats. Working
on accounts like MINI, Molson Beer, Virgin Atlantic
Airways, Borders Book Stores and Burger King, Jim sees
his job at the agency as making creative ideas possible.
Since Jim joined CP+B the agency has enjoyed a period
of significant achievement. The agency has won 4 Media
Lions at the Cannes Advertising Festival over the past
3 years (more than any US agency or media buying shop),
including the Grand Prix in 2001. CP+B won 3 awards
in Mediaweek's "Media Plan of the Year" including the
top award in 2003. The agency was also recognized by
the OAAA for the National Outdoor Media Plan of the
Year Award and the MPA's Kelly Award for outstanding
use of magazines in 2003. Jim was honored by Advertising
Age with a "Media Maven" award in 2001.
Before coming to CP+B, Jim had opened an office for
Media First International in Boston, where he had also
worked at Arnold on Volkswagen and Bell Atlantic. Jim
began his career in New York, starting with Wells Rich
Greene in 1981 and ending with an 11 year run at Jordan,
McGrath Case & Taylor.
In prior positions, Jim was part of several Effie winning
teams, including the Grand Effie in 1988, and was named
"Toughest Print Negotiator" by Media and Marketing Decisions
in 1990.
Jim holds a BA in Communications from the State University
of New York. He is a member of the 4A's Mid-Sized Agency
Media Director's Committee and a terrible yet undeterred
golfer.
Company Background: Crispin Porter + Bogusky
have received accolades for their Mini Cooper work,
most notably the Magazine Publishers of America's (MPA)
Kelly Award., and ADWEEK also acknowledged Crispin Porter
+ Bogusky with two awards - Media Plan of the Year and
Best Use of Magazines. The budget for the Mini Cooper
launch was less than $15 million, yet this campaign,
all based in print - exceeded sales goals and significantly
increasing consumer awareness. Recently, Crispin Porter
+ Bogusky landed the creative and media planning for
Burger King. In this keynote, Jim Poh will provide perspectives
for making great print creative
campaigns and present a case study on the award winning
Mini Cooper campaign. This keynote is your opportunity
to hear from one of the hottest agencies!
