Activity Report
GCA Standard 141-1999
GCA Standard 141-1999 This transaction
uses the product activity data transaction
set from the X12 standard, 852. Companies
in many industries use this transaction
to report on product status on movements,
especially in a vendor-managed inventory
(VMI) environment. VMI relationships
require frequent and detailed reporting
since suppliers have responsibility
for maintaining adequate stocks without
building excess inventories.
GCA's
working group designed this transaction
for printers or warehouses to report
the status of paper inventory in much
the same way. The transaction provides
for periodic (e.g. daily) snapshot status
reports of inventory as well as projections
of immediate needs. It shows the daily
draw-down of paper grade-by-grade that
the owners or suppliers can use directly
for replenishment decisions.
A
working group chaired by Gerry Galewski
of Perry Judd's Inc. developed Product
Activity Report for Paper Used in Publishing
and Printing. This working group is
part of GCA's Electronic Data Interchange
Committee chaired by Bill Orndorff,
also of Perry Judd's Inc. and Brian
Scharlach of McGraw-Hill Companies.
