Usage
& Waste Report
GCA Standard 137-1999
An industry standard for printers to
report paper usage and waste data to
print customers, all in the EDI/X12
standard and Y2K complaint! Usage and
Waste Report for Paper provides a standard
format for printing companies to send
data, many of which they normally collect
for their own management reporting,
to print customers furnishing paper
for the job. It enables printers to
provide usage and waste reports at various
levels of detail to meet the needs of
print customers.
Usage
and Waste Report for Paper uses the
same transaction set as the Paper Quality
EDI Transaction (PAQET) issued by GCA
in 1995, thus offering one basic format
for runnability reports sent to customers
and paper mills.
The
document gives examples of this transaction
showing detailed-level reports by individual
roll numbers as well as summary reports
by purchase order.
The
transaction follows the North American
(X12) standard for EDI, using the latest
version that provides eight-digit date
fields complaint with Y2K requirements.
The document includes examples of the
transaction as well as an updated list
of pressroom operation codes for EDI
transactions (GCA standard 133-1998).
A
working group chaired by Gerry Galewski
of Perry Judd's Inc. developed Shipping
Schedule for Paper Used in Publishing
and Printing. This working group is
part of GCA's Electronic Data Interchange
Committee chaired by Bill Orndorff,
also of Perry Judd's Inc. and Brian
Scharlach of McGraw-Hill Companies.
