Technical documents, datasets and explanative information for printers, print buyers, brands, and experts working to achieve press to proof matching when working with demanding substrate and lighting conditions.   Alexandria, VA (February 3, 2020) – Idealliance, known for creating legendary print standards and specifications such as GRACoL®, SWOP®, and G7® is releasing technical documents, datasets and explanative information for printers, print buyers, brands, and experts working to achieve press to proof matching when working with demanding substrate and lighting conditions. While creating a proof to press match works well with standard substrates, in some cases, the visual and numerical color match obtained on inkjet proofing media and the press stock may not be satisfactory.  Often this can be caused by differing levels of OBA (Optical Brightening Agent(s)) content in the inkjet media and the press stock. The Idealliance Print Properties and Colorimetric Council has created a kit detailing steps which can improve the proof to press match by using SCCA (Substrate Corrected Colorimetric Aims) adjusted versions of CRPC (Characterized Reference Print Conditions) profiles, and/or by creating custom versions of CRPC and substrate profiles using custom daylight color temperatures. The kit contains extensive documentation on how to improve the press to proof match. In addition, the Idealliance Print Properties Council has created SCCA adjusted versions of GRACoL® 2013 with higher levels of OBAs. Primary contributors to the kit were: Peter Pretzer, Don Hutcheson, Roy Bohnen, and Ron Ellis-Chair of Idealliance Print Properties & Colorimetric Council, as well as other select members of the Idealliance Print Properties and Colorimetric Council. “Idealliance is grateful to share these methods, data and profiles, as we do all our work, to help printers, print buyers, brands and experts create improved visual matches,” said Tim Baechle, CEO, Idealliance. “Our goal is to help power the brands and supply chain. These documents help keep our experts as well as the industry performing at a highest level. Our focus as an organization is on serving the world. Everything we undertake as an organization starts with a question, which is, does this serve the entire industry-globally and does it meet the criteria of driving efficiencies, reducing costs and increasing profitability?” The Kit can be downloaded at www.idealliance.org/gracol The Idealliance Print Properties and Colorimetric Council is a global council where standards are born, specifications come to market and leading practices are developed under Idealliance, the global think tank.
